Gone Fishin’ Field Report – Online Evangelism 11/3/23

Hi Everyone

Today I had some downtime so I thought I’d jump onto omegle to do some chats. There was no one in the streaming room, so I went solo.

My first chat was with a guy from England. As soon as my picture came up, he labelled me a racist. I asked him why I was racist, and he said I was from the US, and white Americans are racists. When I challenged him on this, he apologised. We talked about stereotyping and how bad it can be. I didn’t want to make him feel any more uncomfortable, so I went back to the original question on afterlife. He wasn’t convinced of any afterlife, because it was just a myth for religious people to make them feel better. We went through the creation/creator analogy, and how the big bang is scientifically impossible. In the end, he agreed that there could be a creator, but religion has put him off. It sounds like he may have been influenced by socialist ideology. He thanked me for the chat, and I managed to get the social links on the screen before he jumped ship, so maybe he’ll look them up.

The next chat was with 2 girls from New York. They were eager to talk, but very distracted. It was hard to keep their attention. They thought they would go to heaven because they were Christians, but only 50% sure. I took them through the law, they said they would go to hell. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing due to distractions, they agreed that only 100% faith in Christ taking their hell punishment would save them from going to hell. Then they got a phone call from their mum and said they had to go. I posted them the social links, and they took a screenshot. Hopefiully they will make contact with the team through them!

Next was anothe guy from England. A very pleasant young man, very eager to chat about the afterlife. He was pretty sure he was going to hell, and the good person test proved it. He agreed that the only way he could erase the hell punishment was that Jesus took it all from him. Each time I asked him how sure he was he was going to heaven the percentage increased, but never made 100%. I kept asking what happens to people who only believe 57, 75, 85% that they would go to heaven, go? He said hell. But no manner of pleading, and explaining what hell was really like, would convince him. So I asked him what was holding him back, and he said he just wasn’t convinced. I gave him links to the Bible app, the social media links, and had to leave him in God’s hands. If nice people went to heaven, he would have been front of the queue. It’s a shame that niceness and goodness count for nothing in God’s eyes!

Last chat was with a young guy from Helsinki. There were two of them, but only one did all the talking. His English was pretty good, but he had trouble with my Kiwi accent. He agreed that there was a God, and heaven and hell. He thought he would go to heaven because he was good. A quick test exposed what he was really like, just like me! He then agreed he would go to hell. I went through a courtroom analogy to explain how the only way to escape his hell punishment was to accept the free gift of Jesus taking his hell punishment for him. I asked when would be a good time to accept the gift, and he said probably now, because he didn’t know when he was going to die. So I asked him how sure was he that he would go to heaven when he died, and he said 100%! I gave him all the social media, Bible, and good church links. He said he goes to church regularly, and I asked if it was a Lutheran one. He said yes. I asked if his church told people exactly what I was telling him and he said he didn’t know. I’m not sure if it was the churches fault, or he was tuned out at church. So I challenged him to read his Bible regularly, so that he could learn more about the person who saved him from hell. He said he would. It was a great chat to Finnish on (yes, lame I know)!

I thank God for the opportunity to reach people this way, and pray He takes all the glory from my chats!
