Telling people that Jesus will improve their life on earth, is playing on people’s pride and greed. When life doesn’t go as planned, they get a cancer diagnosis, or if they are ridiculed for their faith, they will become disillusioned with God.
If you are using the excuse of thinking that certain people shouldn’t be saved, then maybe it’s time to take a long hard look in the mirror, and question why you deserve to go to heaven when you die.
“Now, the hard question – do you believe that or not?”She was silent for a few seconds. “Yes. Yes, I think I believe that”I had no reason not to believe her, but only God knew her heart.
So often we think we have Jesus down pat. So often we would write a different script to save mankind.
But it wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t include the scarlet thread of scripture, that reveals why He came, why we need Him, and where we go.
Another thing to note about governments and guardians: when their time is over, their spirit departs (v4). Just like us, they succumb to the ultimate statistic: 10 out of 10 people die. All their plans for good come to nothing for them. What is the point of placing our faith in someone mortal, like us? Shouldn’t we be looking towards someone immortal, which can be relied upon?
It is true that someone who ignores good counsel may indeed be a fool. There are some great concepts that have come out of the world. But to keep us grounded, they must be filtered through God’s word.
"Everyone who repents (turns away) from their sins , and places their faith in Christ and His one-time perfect sacrifice on their behalf – will receive 'yeshua' from their sins."
"That seemed to be Dad's general philosophy about the whole of his life: "You get used to it". "
"If you’re not suffering shame for Christ, then it probably means that you’re not trying hard enough."
"Once the wedding supper has started, the doors are closed. It is too late to prove your honour to Christ. No amount of pleading and begging with God, or pounding on heaven’s door, will change anything."
