A soldier doesn’t just put on battle gear to play dress-up. Sooner or later, he will be required to wield his weapon – the one he has been trained to use - to combat the enemy. Blood must be spilled. Souls must be rescued from the grip of the tyrannical enemy, into the rest of the Captain’s stronghold.
If nice people went to heaven, he would have been front of the queue. It’s a shame that niceness and goodness count for nothing in God’s eyes!
I asked him how sure he was that he was going to heaven when he died, and he said 85% sure! This concerned me, so I asked him what about the other 15%. He said he didn't know, there was still so much to learn. I had to ask him how much of his hell punishment did Jesus take for him. He said all of it. I asked where does someone go if Jesus takes 100% of their hell punishment? He said heaven. So how sure can you be that you will go to heaven when you die? He said 100%
He said "You're making so much sense. You're blowing my mind right now. It makes sense that for me to go free, someone would have to pay the debt I can't pay".
If the only reason we are accumulating information is to puff ourselves up, or to laud it over or impress another with our vast knowledge, then we have fallen into the sin of pride. The adage goes, “nobody likes a smart-alec”! Generally, the only person we are impressing, is ourselves.
Christ came into the world to save and redeem sinners like me, like you, and like everyone else on earth. So, let that be our motivation to spread the word to everyone!
"The perfect punishment is an eternal prison-cell called Hell, where the criminal is physically tormented in a lake of fire, without respite. The through terrifies us, but there is hope!"
"To simply not care – to stand and watch someone die without offering them hope – is the most evil of crimes. This is the crime of depraved indifference. People who commit depraved indifference can be charged with murder, or manslaughter. Blood is on their hands."
"Some will swell with pride, saying they are a good person, and they will be OK on judgement day. What they are really saying is that they are enjoying their sin so much that they are willing to go to hell for it."
Telling people that Jesus will improve their life on earth, is playing on people’s pride and greed. When life doesn’t go as planned, they get a cancer diagnosis, or if they are ridiculed for their faith, they will become disillusioned with God.
