What a wake-up call she got when she realised that her sins were enough to send her to hell! She started agreeing with what I was saying, but suddenly turned back to her 'God is love and wouldn't throw anyone in hell' stance. Then her understanding of English disappeared, and she feigned a language barrier problem.

He started using some colourful language in order to put me off, so I made the decision to not go any further, as I didn't want the wee boy subjected to any more of the language. He did take a tract, though.

It turned out she was relying on her good works to get her to heaven. I started emphasizing the dangers in this, when she started accusing me of being angry. I don’t know if it was her being convicted and trying to fob me off, or I was really abrupt – it was probably a combination of both.
